The Qandūsī Dalāʾil al-Khayrāt: a panel and facsimile presentation
Date and Time
Location
In 2024, the Moroccan Ministry of the Habous and Islamic affairs published a facsimile of the famous Sufi book of prayers known as the Dalāʾil al-Khayrāt of al-Jazūlī, copied in the hand of the famous 19th-century Maghrebi calligrapher and Sufi, al-Qandūsī (National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco MS J634).
This remarkable manuscript offers a unique experience of the intimate encounter between the material and the spiritual, the written word and Muslim mysticism.
Dr. Ilyass Amharar, organizer of the commentary volume accompanying the facsimile, will represent the Moroccan Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs in presenting a copy of the publication to the Harvard Fine Arts Library. To celebrate the occasion, Dr. Amharar and Dr. Hiba Abid (NYPL) will give short talks to elucidate some of the specifics of this rare manuscript, while Harvard’s own Lauren Ehrmann (HAA G2) will offer an overview of the Dala’il genre as a whole.
