Mary Elston, Alwaleed Bin Talal Postdoctoral Fellow
Mary Elston is an interdisciplinary scholar of Islam whose research focuses on politics, religion, and conceptual change in the late Ottoman, modern, and contemporary periods. She is hosted by the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations and, in the spring, will teach Transforming Tradition: Islamic Education in the Modern Muslim World

 

 

Shiraz Hajiani
Shiraz Hajiani is a scholar of religion and history who specializes in Islamic history and thought, Shiʿism, Ismaili studies and has regional expertise in the study of the Middle East, North Africa, Central and South Asia. He is hosted by the Center for the Study of World Religions at Harvard Divinity School and is teaching Religion and Society in Islamicate History (900-1300 CE) from Shiʿi Centuries to Mongol Invasions this fall.
