# An Update from the Alwaleed Program

March 12, 2020

Dear members of the Islamic studies community,

In accordance with Harvard's new restrictions aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) on gatherings of 25 or more people and both domestic and international travel, the Alwaleed Program will postpone the remainder of our events scheduled for the spring 2020 semester. We hope to be in touch in the near future about new dates for our seminars, research methods workshop, and other events.

Please note, however, that we still invite submissions for the [Alwaleed Bin Talal Thesis Prizes](/thesis-prize) for Best Undergraduate Thesis in Islamic Studies and Best Dissertation in Islamic Studies.

We encourage everyone to follow the guidelines of the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention](https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/prevention.html?CDC_AA_refVal=https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/prevention-treatment.html) and [Harvard University](https://www.harvard.edu/coronavirus) and to take care of your health and that of others to in this difficult time. We hope for a quick return to normal operations and look forward to resuming programming for the Harvard community.

Please feel free to reach out to the program at <islamicstudies@harvard.edu> with any questions or concerns.

With best wishes,
The Alwaleed Islamic Studies Program
