**Annas Rolli Muchlisin** is a PhD student in the Committee on the Study of Religion. His academic interests focus on the Qur’an and its world, encompassing the world *before* the Qur’an, particularly how the Qur’an engages with the religious discourses of Late Antiquity, and the world *after* the Qur’an, including the roles the Qur’an has played in Islamic intellectual history and interpretive traditions.

Annas holds an MA in the Study of Religion from the University of Toronto, Canada, an MA in Contemporary Islamic Thought from Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar, and a BA in Qur’an and Tafsīr Studies from UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Indonesia. Drawing on approaches from religious studies, intellectual history, and comparative scriptural analysis, his research explores the Qur’an’s engagement with its historical milieu as well as its enduring significance within Islamic thought.
